Started, but not finished

My latest proofread for Pen & Sword Books has, as its theme, stories about railway lines that were started to be built but, for different reasons, never finished. Author Mark Yonge has brought together the results of much detailed research on a cross-section of British railway projects, including the original Channel Tunnel scheme of the late Victorian era. This was a fascinating read. One of the lines covered was one local to my home address: the Edgware to Bushey Heath project of London Transport. I thought that I knew a great deal about this aborted scheme, but I found much new information. A fascinating account of a series of ‘might-have-beens’.
