Something Completely Different

Ian Thornburrow-Dobson is the son of a work colleague of mine and I was asked to do a proofreading exercise on his new book ‘The Fractured Heartstone’. Without giving too much of the plot away, it is a ‘Lord of the Rings’ type story. I must be honest and say that I am unfamiliar with this type of book, the majority of my own book collection being non-fiction works on one subject or another. However, I was greatly impressed by what I found. Ian writes well and has a great imagination, creating a story that kept me interested from the first page to the last – something which I think is one of the hardest things for an author to do. I would recommend this book as a good read, one that moves along at a fast pace and which leaves a lasting impression – the last mentioned being something I also think is a hard thing for an author to do. Ian excels on both these demands and has a good future as a writer of this type of work.
