Some Early Railway History

My latest completed project for Pen & Sword Books was a history of the early railway companies which eventually came together in 1862 to form the Great Eastern Railway, one of the most well known of the pre-grouping organisations. The book was written by Charles Phillips, a keen student of the GER and member of the GER study group. Mr Phillips’ diligent research on the history of these railways has paid off, the result being a detailed study of the lines in the East of England, their conception, building and operation, together with an overview of the motive power involved. The book is the first part of a series outlining the history of the GER.
