Towards the end of 2019 I was asked to proofread a manuscript which, for me, was very different from my usual subject matter. The manuscript in question was entitled ‘The Heartstone’ and the author was Ian Thornburrow-Dobson. Without giving too much of the plot away, this was a fictional ‘Lord of the Rings’ type of fantasy. The proofread was successful, the book was subsequently self-published and the author is now promoting it on Amazon. In October this year, Ian contacted me again and advised that he had completed the follow-up to ‘The Heartstone’ and asked if I could proofread the new work, which was entitled ‘The Circle of Etheniel’. (The book is to be the second part of a trilogy.) The new manuscript I found very enjoyable, well written and fast moving, up to the standard of the first volume. The latest proofread was successfully completed as well and Ian has now self-published it and is selling it via Amazon. What a great pity that Ian cannot get the backing of a publisher – I feel that this book would sell well, given the right publicity.
