Scottish Railways in the 1980s and 1990s

My latest proofreading project which I have undertaken for Pen & Sword Books is a picture book looking at Scottish Railways during what could be described as the ‘Sectorisation’ period of the British Rail system during the 1980s and early 1990s. Drawing on the photographic collection of author Peter J. Green, the reader is taken on a photographic ‘journey’ around Scotland, from cities such as Glasgow to the far-flung parts of the network, such as Oban, Wick and Thurso. A surprising amount of motive power has been captured on film, from diesel and electric locomotives, through HSTs and multiple units, together with a few steam locomotives. The pictures also feature much of the steam-age infrastructure that was still in situ at the time, with, of course, the splendid Scottish scenery. A most interesting book and a useful addition to the bookshelves of many railway enthusiasts.
