Railways in the landscape

My latest completed proofreading project for Pen & Sword Books was a railway picture book entitled Realms of the British Railway Landscape. Author David Goodyear drew together a superb miscellany of his own colour photographs where the train in question was seen as part of the surrounding landscape, rather than as a subject in its own right. The subjects covered ranged from ultra-modern diesels and electrics to the domestic heritage scene, both large and small gauges. My own personal favourite line, the West Somerset Railway, featured on a number of occasions, including an atmospheric picture taken at Crowcombe Heathfield, late on a December day with a dusting of snow and the sky’s light starting to fade. A high-quality publication whose appeal should transcend the railway community.
