Looking back at the London Underground

My latest completed railway proofreading project for Pen & Sword Books was a picture album on the subject of the London Underground between 1968 and 1985. The author was Jim Blake, prolific photographer, author and transport historian, who had put together a most interesting collection of pictures taken across the Underground network, with particular emphasis on the eastern part of the District Line and the northern sections of the Northern Line, regarding the latter, paying special attention to what remained of the abortive extension plans of the late 1930s. I was particularly interested in the Q and R stock trains of the District, units that I did not know much about. The former units, with their clerestory roofs, seemed very American in their looks. Taken all round, a fine selection of illustrations, with much to keep the transport enthusiast happy.
