Llanelly West to Carmarthen

I have today completed a new proofreading project for Pen & Sword Books, this one a pictorial album about the section of railway line between Llanelly West and Carmarthen. According to the author, this book is to be the first of a series about the railways in this part of Wales. Although only a short section of line, it has a fascinating history, being originally completed to serve the needs of industry, but surviving various scares to play its part in the current railway scene, with less freight, but more passenger, both local and long-distance. A wide variety of locomotives, both steam and diesel, appear within its pages, ranging from some antique machines such as GWR ‘Dukes’ and ‘Bulldogs’, through the later steam engines and earlier diesel vehicles, to today’s DMUs and Hitachi 800 creations. Much can be learned from looking through this fascinating volume.
