My latest completed railway proofreading project for Pen & Sword Books was a manuscript entitled ‘High Speed Trains to the North of England’ . Author David Mather has put together a well-illustrated work about the iconic High Speed Trains (HST) of British Rail and the post-1994 network, serving as a potted history of these hard-working diesel trains. Many of the illustrations are in the York area, and trace the story from the HST debut in the late 1970s to the present day. Are the HSTs the greatest ever British passenger train? They must be a strong candidate.
